The First Lesson

Hi everyone. True to my promise, I am here to share my first lesson at Mirakle with you. The first thing that I learnt from Mirakle was to change my attitude towards the deaf. To work for the benefit of the deaf, you first need to know how life is for them.
We work endlessly to secure a safe future. We study, travel, work, earn money, fall in love, bear children, face our problems and try to ensure a happy life. This is the average and widely lived human life. Now, just add one more dimension to this. For a brief moment, imagine that you do not have the sense of hearing to depend upon. How would your life change?

Mapping the World
Rian has been teaching the Churchgate Mirakle Team about the world map since we are going to start delivering Internationally. We soon found out that their general knowledge about countries of the world was quite poor. All along they thought the UK was right next to the United States (perhaps because they know that they are politically and economically tied). Most have heard of London but they have no Idea what country it is in. They also knew a few politically incorrect signs for some of our asian neighbors. Rian was quick to correct these. They were of course the best at identifying all the cricketing nations.

Mirakle Star Profile: Bhupesh Bhoir
The next few posts are going to once again be featuring some real stories about some of Mirakle’s employees. We covered a few of the girls last week and now we are going to focus on some of the star boys that have really taken their work seriously and kick ass at the delivery game. While most boys have an average number of packages they might deliver in a day, some of these guys have been known to triple it. Going above and beyond to picking up a handsome bonuses. This kind of ambition can only come carved out of tough situations and a desire to change their life. Exactly what Mirakle Couriers aims to give them the opportunity to do.

ISL - The Silent National Language
A lot of people have called and emailed us to ask where one can learn Indian Sign Language. Indian Sign Language, or ISL, is the official visual language of communication for the deaf community in India. While, (like in any other language) dialects and colloquialisms vary regionally, ISL is the nationally studied sign language.
In mumbai there is the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the for the Hearing Handicapped in Bandra West.
